It's Not Their Money!! |
Governor Paterson has proposed in his 2010 Executive Budget to “sweep” $5 million dollars from the snowmobile trail development and maintenance fund into the general fund over the next several years. What you may not be aware of is that the Governor proposes to sweep $1 million from the trail fund this current fiscal year! This unprecedented sweep, coming less than two years after a previous attempt to take $1 million during the 2008-2009 budget process. |
WE ALL NEED TO TAKE ACTION TO STOP HIM NOW!!! Click HERE to go to the NYSSA website to read more about this raid on OUR money and download the letters that have been set up specifically for us to send to Governor Paterson, and our State Senators and Assembly Members!! PLEASE - ACT NOW!!!! |
Our 10th Annual Vintage Snowmobile Show & Chicken BBQ was a huge success! A special THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who helped before, during and after the event. Without you our club would not be able to hold these events. Thank you to Owen Orchards for allowing us the use of your facilities, and Thank you to all the people to came out with thier vintage machines. - - -Trail Report- - - UPDATE 3/6/10: Some of the trails north of Rt 5 were groomed last night and the groomer went back out today. Trails were groomed this morning from Rt 5 south, at least to Lacy Rd. Haven't received full reports on if the groomer went all the way to Bear Swamp. Snow is melting with all this warm weather and sun. Please be mindful of landowners property if you ride. Use common sense if conditions are unfavorable. Please respect our landowners by staying off the trails if there isn't sufficient snow. updated 3/6/10

A MESSAGE FROM OUR TRAIL CREWS: Updated 1/12/10The 2009 – 2010 season is upon us. The trail crews have been busy every weekend and some nights since the end of June making trail improvements and seasonal clearing.
Much time and frustration has gone into the repair of bridges damaged from careless riders last season. EVERY bridge the club has was damaged by careless riders last season – and some very badly. We are only a couple weeks into the season with snow and we are already seeing bridge damage and signs broken. Our trail bosses work very hard to get our Landowner permissions. We have approximately 200 of the nicest Landowners that are becoming more frustrated every season with the lack of respect from a handful of riders. Our Landowners are increasingly frustrated by all the loud sleds, late night riders, not staying on the marked trails, drinking on the trails, and leaving behind beer cans in the fields that get combined up the next year. These beer cans are now mixed in with the hay that is fed to the cows (this Kills cows!!!) Between the money to fix the bridge damage and the possible loss of Landowner permissions, this type of rider is single handedly closing down the trail system. Landowners will take just so much!! REMEMBER – THESE TRAILS ARE ON PRIVATE PROPERTY!! SO PLEASE: if you are one who has loud pipes, consider going back to a stock pipe or if not, try not to ride past 10:00 pm. If you ride at night in general, please be very considerate of ALL homeowners. (head lights, noise, etc.) There have already been very successful road blocks set up in Jordan. Many tickets were handed out. DEC has been at gas stations and this will be done on a regular basis. Please stay on the marked trails!! There is a reason why we have marked trails. THAT IS WHERE THE LANDOWNER WANTS YOU!!! Please do not drink on the trails and please do not leave any empties, especially aluminum cans. Combines can’t detect aluminum and they end up in the feed. Cans in feed KILL COWS!!!!
Thank you to all of our Landowners for allowing us the use of their land for our trails. Our 2009/2010 season has begun and we appreciate your continued support.
