Preseason '11 - '12 Projects

Please be patient while our slideshows load.

November 6, 2011 - With the help of 13 people, we had 2 crews brushing and trimming the canal trail from Arby's to Jordan.  One group went east one went west.  The canal is now complete.  We worked 8-2 on this to get it done. It was our 3rd full day on this area in the past month. Thanks to all the volunteers, especially to the ones using their own personal equipment to accomplish these tasks.

November 5, 2011 - Andy, Brian, Kevin, and Aaron worked  from 8:30 to 2:00 fixing the rutted trail to the bridge caused by ATVs.  The entire stretch was dug out to the dry dirt then filled in with rocks and fill from the field.  Also the bank into the woods is now flat, Andy and Ken cut the whole thing down to be used for fill. No ATV signs have now been posted. These guys are causing the club a lot of extra unnecessary work!
September 11, 2011 - Rob, Andy, Steve, Rose, Bob, and Aaron removed the old bridge at Millstone and replaced it with a wider groomer accessible bridge.  The old narrow bridge had sunk into the ground over a foot and was difficult and dangerous for the groomer to cross.
September 10, 2011 - Rob, Dave, Kevin, and Aaron cleared a new trail around a very muddy trail section on the Wildwood trail.  Added a culvert to a run off area known to wash out the trail and was difficult to cross with sleds.
September 3, 2011 - Those of you who have ridden the Pizza Hut trail the last few years know what a pain it's been with the steep ravine and mucky ground conditions at the bottom. Every year we get word from people who have gotten stuck and couldn't get up. It hasn't been a good situation, not to mention we couldn't get our groomer through there. Thanks to a suggestion from Charlie Masters of a possible reroute, we were able to chart a new course through the woods and created a beautiful, scenic, high and dry trail that will actually be a pleasure to ride on. Because of the unbelievable response of club members, 17 people showed up at 7:30 am and in approx 6 hrs cleared & brushed 1/2 mile worth of now groomer accessible trail and built a 22 ft bridge. Absolutely amazing what was accomplished in 1 day! Big thanks to all the club members and our Landowner who allowed us to do this, even with his crops in.
August 27, 2011 - Had a great crew working on the Peru Rd trail today.  With the exception of the road culvert, the trail is complete.  Thanks to Steve, Rose, Rob, Aaron, Paul(for the culvert), and Kevin for hauling the dozer and bringing his excavator and Bobcat.  Those two machines are the ones that really worked the magic and got this trail looking good!  Thanks a lot Kevin.
August 27, 2011 - Charlie Masters Sr., Charlie Masters Jr. and his son, John Arpino, Steve Arpino, Mark Perry, and Dave Samons rebuilt another 50 ft bridge on S53C, Pizza Hut trail, between Cherry St Rd and Miller Rd.
August 13, 2011 - 50 foot bridge between Cemetary Rd and Twelve Corners Rd that was in very bad condition has now been upgraded from an 8 ft wide bridge to a 12 ft wide bridge. The last couple years the groomer has had a hard time getting over it and now it will easily accomodate the groomer. Thanks to the crew of John Arpino, Steve Arpino, Devin Arpino, Dave Samons and Kyle Murphy for getting the work done!
July 23, 2011 - Replaced the small snowmobile only bridge that was in bad shape on C5A between Grange Hall Rd and Oakhill Rd. We built a permanent bridge that will accommodate the groomer. This allows the trail to be a straight shot between Grange Hall and the gas pipeline.
July 10, 2011 - Aaron Burnham, Andy Wargo, Dave Samons, Steve Brown, Rob Weatherstone, Dave Cobb, Mike Major, Tommy Lipiska and his son removed the old bridge yesterday over by Millstone golf course. Andy and Dave used their machines to remove some stumps and level out the trail. This area has really improved from the work.
June 19, 2011 - July 9, 2011 - John Arpino, Steve Arpino, Dave Samons, Andy Wargo, Joe Huey, Josh Kerrick and Garrett Carberry worked on replacing the 5ft bridge with a 6ft bridge on C5A off 38A between Murphy Hill Rd and Church Rd.
May 28, 2011 - Rob, Dave, Andy, and Aaron removed the 2 small bridges over by Millstone golf course Saturday morning.  This was done as a result of the owner of the storage buildings not allowing the trail to cross his property any longer.  The snowmobile traffic has damaged his asphalt driveway, tore it up pretty good.  So now with the bridges removed there will be no reason to enter his property. This season the trail will run along side of Rt.5 like it was suppose to this previous season.
May 22, 2011 - Replaced broken posts on the canal trail.
May 21, 2011 - Worked on a new groomer trail between Jordan and Elbridge.
April 10, 2011 - Replacing a landowner's broken fence that someone hit in Elbridge.
